GUEST OF THE HESSISCHES STAATSBALLETTOPEN CALL – POP UP Dance Residencies at the Staatstheater Darmstadt

Are you a dancer or choreographer from the Rhine-Main area working on a new piece or an idea that needs space to grow? Then you’ve come to the right place!

In the 2025/26 season, the Hessisches Staatsballett is offering several POP UP residencies to local dance artists. The residencies take place at the Staatstheater Darmstadt and can last flexibly between two and four weeks. They give you the opportunity to work intensively in our studio, experiment, and further develop your artistic practice.

We provide a rehearsal space as well as reimbursement of travel expenses within the RMV area. Unfortunately, additional financial support is not possible. In return, resident artists agree to present a public work-in-progress showing during their stay.

Applications are now open. Please send us a brief project description, the number of people involved, the CVs of all participants, and – if already planned – information on whether and when a premiere of the piece is scheduled.
