Lucas Herrmann

Dramaturg

Lucas Herrmann studied theater and media studies as well as modern German literary history in Erlangen and earned his doctorate on the documentation of theater rehearsals in Hildesheim. A research stay took him to Honolulu, Hawaii; where he studied Asian dance and theater. He completed dramaturgical internships at Deutsches Theater Berlin, Staatsschauspiel Hannover and Thalia Theater Hamburg. He worked  with the Bulgarian director Dimiter Gotscheff for several years, whose productions he also documented for the Akademie der Künste Berlin. In the 2017/18 season, Lucas Herrmann was dramaturge for press and public relations at Dance Company Nanine Linning / Theater Heidelberg. Here he supervised, among others, the youth dance piece Trans Lucent by Gary Joplin, which was invited to the Tanztreffen der Jugend 2018 at Haus der Berliner Festspiele. He has developed and co-created documentary theater, performance, and installation projects, most recently a three-part cycle on the theme of Angstgesellschaft with music theater director Levin Handschuh in Bremen in summer 2019. Along the way, Herrmann is active as a writer of theater texts and in the field of experimental short film. Since the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he has been dramaturg at Hessisches Staatsballett.
