UNSEEN WORLD

With Unseen World, Lithuania’s Dansema Dance Theater invites its youngest audience members to experience dance for the very first time. Designed as an interactive performance for babies aged six to 18 months, the piece dispenses with spoken language entirely, instead creating a space for exploration centred on touch, movement and curiosity. Together with two dancers, the children discover colours, shapes, textures and rhythms, exploring the world through all their senses.

Developed through two years of artistic research, the concept makes dance not only something to be seen, but something to be experienced physically. Rather than presenting a performance to be watched from a distance, Unseen World creates a safe space in which children can move freely, respond to the performers’ impulses and become part of the experience themselves.

Unseen World was also developed for blind and visually impaired children as well as neurodiverse young audiences. A sensitive work that shows how dance begins long before the first words are spoken and can be discovered through touch, perception and shared experience.
