The vast, surging waves of the ocean serve as a metaphor for transformation and continuity. Inspired by John Luther Adams’ Become Ocean, which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2014, choreographic duo LEE\VAKULYA evoke the ceaseless movement of the tides in their new creation of the same name for Hessisches Staatsballett.
In March 2026, the acclaimed production was recorded by the Franco-German television channel ARTE. A special version of the choreography was created for the film, produced by Boris Berger and Benedicte Buffiere. Through the camera lens of Wiesbaden-based director of photography Myriam Hoyer, the film offers audiences new perspectives on movement, space and atmosphere.
