The term “All’arme!” (“To arms!”) was once a warning cry calling people to defend themselves. Taking this historical origin as their starting point, Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi develop a choreography exploring states of alert, collective dynamics and the fragile boundary between protection and threat. When does defence itself turn into aggression? And how does the individual change within a group?

For ALL’ARME, the two choreographers collaborate with the Croatian Studio Contemporary Dance Company for the first time. Six dancers create a dense web of formations and shifts through the rhythm of their steps and the power of synchronised movement. Drawing on military movement patterns, they create images of discipline and cohesion while simultaneously revealing their ambiguities. Panzetti and Ticconi combine choreographic precision with striking visual compositions, turning their attention to mechanisms of power, community and violence. ALL’ARME reveals just how closely protection and threat, cohesion and confrontation can be intertwined.
