Vanessa Shield

Vanessa was born in Sydney, Australia. She began her dance training at the Heinz-Bosl Stiftung in Munich, where she danced in productions by Bayerisches Staatsballett. Her first engagement took her to Theater Dortmund, and after one season she moved to the Leipziger Ballett, where she danced in pieces by Ohad Naharin, Meryl Tankard, Mario Schröder and Uwe Scholz. In 2015, she returned to Munich, where she joined the ensemble of the Gärtnerplatztheater. In her three seasons, she danced in One Flat Thing Reproduced by William Forsythe as well as creations by Marco Goecke, Stijn Celis, Marina Mascarell, Eyal Dadon, Roberto Zappalà, Tony Rizzi and Emanuel Gat, among others. Since 2018, Vanessa has been with the Hessisches Staatsballett, where she has had the opportunity to work with various choreographers. She has participated in productions such as Sadeh 21 by Ohad Naharin, as well as pieces by Bryan Arias, Edward Clug, Wubkje Kuindersma and Tim Plegge, among others. During breaks in the season, Vanessa leads many workshops for various schools in her hometown as well as other cities around Australia.
