Force majeure

Force Majeure is the first commission for a company from the German-speaking world. In the piece, Raymond & Tregarthen explore the idea of a higher power that affects life through human action or as a mysterious force of the universe. At the same time, they pose the question of whether this higher power only exists outside of us or also within us. In their works, the duo goes beyond traditional aesthetics and forms. In the process, surrealistic-looking arrangements of scenes depict everyday situations that evoke a subliminal comedy through a precise interplay of technical effects and physical expression. Both pieces will be accompanied by the Darmstadt State Orchestra.
