In Contre-nature, Rachid Ouramdane fuses dance and acrobatics into a breathtaking play between grounding and levitation. Together with ten performers from the Compagnie de Chaillot — each with diverse dance and acrobatic backgrounds — he creates a powerful choreography in which bodies do not only dance, but also fly, fall, and catch one another.
Between heavy groundedness and airy ecstasy, a tension emerges that leads deep within — to images of childhood, aging, loss, and the traces others leave within us. Contre-nature explores our relationship to this inner landscape of memories. Amidst fog, projected light images, and ever-shifting rhythms, Ouramdane creates a sensual field of energy where the language of contemporary dance and that of the new circus merge.
A fast-paced and poetic journey through memory and the present — and a tribute to human connectedness in its vulnerable beauty.
