Special for the festival week / Preview 2nd part of the dance evening BROKEN BOB / Free admission with tickets
As part of this year’s Darmstadt Festival Week, you can get a first glimpse of the rehearsals before the premiere of ‘Broken Bob’. ‘Broken Sense of Beauty’ is the second part of the Hessian State Ballet’s dance evening “Broken Bob”.
Following Xie Xin’s successful production ‘Timeless’, ‘Broken Bob’ is the first time that the Hessisches Staatsballett has combined the Chinese choreographer’s dance position with a new creation by the siblings Imre and Marne van Opstal, who have already been nominated for the Faust Prize, in a double bill. Marble is created in the earth like ashes after a fire. In a long process of transformation, under heat and pressure, its fine lines paint themselves into the rock; they tell of the past like the black from the devouring of the flames. Traces decorate and they remain. Hidden deep in the layers of being and buried in the superimposition of inner impressions, a broken sense of beauty emerges.
Powerful and sublime. Rice paper, black powder and six bodies are the ingredients of Xie Xin’s new creation ‘Broken Sense of Beauty’. In this piece, the Chinese choreographer explores a personal tragedy.
Interested? Then come and see it at the Kammerspiele at the beginning of October!
