Since summer 2018, the dancers of the Hessisches Staatsballett have been receiving osteopathic care from the practice of Prof. Fuhrmann & Kollegen. The ensemble is treated at different frequencies, depending on the current symptoms or high levels of stress before or after performances.
For dancers in particular, the principle of “prevention before rehabilitation” applies. We as a practice, in cooperation with the Hessian State Ballet, are of the opinion that osteopathic medicine in particular can make a contribution to ballet sport through its resource- and solution-oriented approach.
We are dealing with competitive athletes and with this understanding we also want to provide the dancers with osteopathic care. This primarily relates to the ankle, knee and shoulder areas. However, the axial skeleton and its corresponding structures (fascia, organs, etc.) are also constantly stressed by dynamic rotational movements. As dancers’ complaints are often triggered or maintained by secondary dysfunctions in the body, osteopaths with their in-depth understanding of these relationships are predestined to care for dancers.
We are delighted to be part of the Hessian State Ballet.
