Guest performance in April: Daddy Shot My Rabbit

For the choreography of Chris Jäger, a minimum age of 14 years is advised.

Duration: 70 Minuten

Daddy Shot My Rabbit is dedicated to bleeding souls and trembling rabbits. Equipped with furs and weapons, a community tries to survive alone together. Unable to be close to each other, but still dependent on each other, four dancers are caught up in a dysfunctional web of relationships. Their life together, burdened by trauma, manifests itself in their tense and restless bodies. In an atmosphere of latent violence, opaque actions testify to dissociative behaviour. The only way in which the cause of their suffering takes shape is through the appearance of a rabbit. Shaking and twerking, they try to free themselves from the pressure of post-traumatic stress so that they can finally take the past in their arms and caress it.

In his first work at Uferstudios, choreographer Chris Jäger explores how we deal with mental health today. Together with the dancers, he examines the effects of trauma on the body and its natural coping strategies.

Daddy Shot My Rabbit is a co-production with LOT-Theater Braunschweig. Supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of NEUSTART KULTUR, the Stiftung Niedersachsen, the Braunschweig Foundation, the Cultural Office of the City of Hanover and the City of Braunschweig. With the kind support of Kulturinitiative Förderband gGmbH / Theaterhaus Berlin Schöneweide, Landesverband Freier Theater Niedersachsen e.V. and Uferstudios Berlin.
