WORKSHOP: TRANSMISSION AROUND FREVO

Focus on Frevo: This traditional Brazilian dance is bursting with energy and joie de vivre and forms part of the movement language in Calixto Neto’s solo Outrar. Originating in the city of Recife in the early 20th century and strongly influenced by movements from the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira, Frevo is often associated with Brazilian Carnival.
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the dance and, together with Calixto Neto, explore the relationship between movement and the music’s infectious rhythms.
