Between Us: Three Stories

In February, duets take center stage in Wiesbaden as a form of dance expression in the triple bill Between Us: Three Stories.

Indian choreographer Mihir Grover delves into the complexity of human relationships. His piece unfolds—true to its title, which references the Hindi word “RAFU” (“to mend,” “to patch up”)—as a journey of constant repairing, constructing and reconstructing; an attempt to strengthen and preserve the connection between two people. The performance raises the question of why we tend to address the cracks in our relationships only when they are on the verge of breaking apart.

In SOMEBODY, Israeli choreographer Gil Kerer explores contact and physical vulnerability through mutual support. The piece investigates dance as a means of drawing closer to one another, building trust, and forming a physical bond. Performing on stage is dancer Sophie Hauernheim, who—despite being diagnosed with incomplete paraplegia during her training at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden—made a conscious decision to pursue a life in dance.

Finally, MEGASTRUCTURE follows with curiosity the journey of two bodies in constant connection. The duet by the renowned Luxembourg duo Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wilson unfolds like a puzzle, continuously broken apart, reassembled, tested and further developed. Without music or other distractions, a dense and captivating performance emerges solely from the natural musicality of their bodies, inviting an immersive experience. MEGASTRUCTURE was already seen to great acclaim in Wiesbaden in 2024 as part of Spring Forward, the European dance network aerowaves’ festival, and now returns to the Kleine Haus.
