The summer break is drawing to a close, and the studios of the Hessisches Staatsballett are once again filled with movement: since the beginning of August, the ensemble has been back at work, with rehearsals underway for the premieres and revivals of the 2026\/27 season. With new productions, familiar works from the repertoire and an international tour ahead, an exciting and varied season awaits.<\/p>\n

There are changes within the ensemble, too: new dancers are joining the Hessisches Staatsballett this season, bringing fresh artistic perspectives and impulses to the company. We will be introducing the new faces of the ensemble in more detail here and on our social media channels over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

New Works and Returning Favourites<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With \u201cNachttr\u00e4ume\u201d<\/strong>, the Hessisches Staatsballett brings the visually striking work of Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau to the stage. Originally created for Ballett Z\u00fcrich in 2022, the work unfolds a dream world that is as fascinating as it is unsettling, combining historical references with Morau\u2019s distinctive contemporary movement language. The production premieres on 12 September 2026 in Darmstadt<\/strong> and 6 November 2026 in Wiesbaden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Wiesbaden season opens with the revival of \u201cSilent Echo\u201d<\/strong>. The triple bill brings together successful works from the Hessisches Staatsballett repertoire: I\u2019m afraid to forget your smile<\/em> by Imre and Marne van Opstal, Midnight Raga<\/em> by Marco Goecke and The Mass Ornament<\/em> by Fran D\u00edaz return to the stage from 27 September 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

February sees the world premiere of \u201cNever odd or eveN\u201d<\/strong> by David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen. The new work premieres on 12 February 2027 in Wiesbaden<\/strong>, followed by its Darmstadt premiere on 4 April 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On 8 May 2027<\/strong>, \u201cCantos\u201d<\/strong> by Maciej Ku\u017ami\u0144ski takes to the stage in Darmstadt. The Polish choreographer\u2019s new creation is set to the music of Simeon ten Holt\u2019s minimalist masterpiece Canto Ostinato<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Become Ocean Travels to Taiwan<\/h2>\n

The Hessisches Staatsballett will also be taking to the international stage this season. In November, the company travels to Taipei with \u201cBecome Ocean\u201d<\/strong> by LEE\\VAKULYA. The production was created as a joint commission with Taiwan\u2019s National Theater and Concert Hall and celebrated its world premiere last season. On 13 and 14 November 2026<\/strong>, the work will be presented at the National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei, bringing the production to the home of its co-producing partner.<\/p>\n

A Space for Choreographic Voices<\/h2>\n

Towards the end of the season, the focus once again turns to choreographic talent from within the company. With \u201cStartbahn 2027\u201d<\/strong>, dancers of the Hessisches Staatsballett have the opportunity to develop their own choreographic ideas and bring them to the stage. The format creates space for experimentation, individual movement languages and new forms of dance expression. The resulting short choreographies can be experienced from 17 June 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
