If you ask Nadav Zelner about the color of his latest creation, he speaks of a “light blue”. Colors are important in his works, and the dancers in his pieces are just as colorful: chameleons whose physical repertoire of expression tells of both an organic adaptability and an honest face. In his new creation glue light blue, the Israeli choreographer examines the music of the Middle East and explores the fact that nothing can be taken for granted, especially not reality. Zelner’s dance productions transport us to imaginative worlds that seem familiar to us from childhood or theater culture; The Threepenny Opera, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz or Peter Pan. His unmistakable dance language is inspired by many influences; he has presented his own dance short films as dance mini-dramas, and he frequently choreographs for film and television. Previous work stations have included Batsheva Dance Company, Bolshoi Ballet Moscow, Nederlands Dans Theater and Gauthier Dance Stuttgart. Yet for all his sensitivity to the magic of the world around us, his artistic means are also very concrete: physical realities that contrast with futuristic, cosmically permeated floods of images.<\/p>\n
