Danza Contempor\u00e1nea de Cuba looks back on more than 50 years of history. Founded in 1959, the year of the\u00a0Cuban revolution, in many respects it can be seen as an image of the island state and its people.
\nInspired by Theodor Storm\u2019s fairy tale\u00a0Die Regentrude, its work\u00a0Rain Maiden\u00a0resembles a choreographic ritual of renewal. Here drought appears not only as a natural phenomenon, but as a metaphor for material, emotional and spiritual exhaustion.
\nOn stage the dancers embody this dryness: they appear leaden, fragmented and emaciated. By contrast the rain maiden\u00a0does not appear as a single character but as a collective feminine force. Rooted in ancestral knowledge and in harmony with Afro-Cuban spiritual traditions, her presence comes alive: through voices, breathing, rhythm and a community coming together. The rain that arrives here does not appear as an external miracle but as the collective act of bodies that resist, remember and support each other.
\nIn this sense, the piece becomes a reflection on the possibility of regeneration in times of crisis \u2014 a call to restore the connection between community, memory, and nature.<\/p>\n

The performance contains intense physical imagery, themes related to ritual, transformation, death and rebirth, and moments of emotional intensity that may be more suitable for audiences aged 14 and above.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
