In The Mass Ornament<\/em><\/strong>, Spanish choreographer Fran D\u00edaz reflects on an aspect of Siegfried Kracauer\u2019s 1963 essay collection The Mass Ornament<\/em>. In it, the Frankfurt School philosopher describes, using the example of the Tiller Girls revue troupe of the 1920s, the rationalization of bodies as a socio-economic expression of mass production. D\u00edaz translates this idea into the present day, employing a wide spectrum of choreographic formations. Set to the relentless music of Henryk G\u00f3recki\u2019s Concerto for Harpsichord and String Orchestra, Op. 40<\/em>, along with an additional composition by Tom Foskett-Barnes, D\u00edaz structures his work into three sections. Precision, awareness, and exertion characterize the choreography\u2019s self-sacrifice for the collective. Amid all the mania for conformity, however, a kiss sometimes remains as the last bastion of humanity.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
